Third Eye Chakra (23 minutes)
Welcome to the 6th chakra class in the Chakra Yoga series! As you continue to work along the length of the spine, connecting with each chakra physically, as well as emotionally and spiritually, you’ll begin to notice your awareness shifting from the concrete to the abstract.
The first 3 chakras – Muladhara (Root Chakra), Svadhisthana (Sacral Chakra), and Manipura (Solar Plexus Chakra) – represented our roots, our connection to the earth and that which grounds us. Subtly, we moved into a deeper awareness of our creative energies, as we developed a balanced and healthy awareness of our ego or individual role within the greater collective. Then, we moved through the Anahata (Heart Chakra) and the Vishudda (Throat Chakra) and explored themes of self-love, open-heartedness, and learning to speak our truth from a place of clarity and awareness.
Today, you are invited to connect with the Anja or Third Eye Chakra located at the centre of the forehead. This chakra is believed to be the control centre of your emotions. Connecting to the power of this chakra illuminates your intuition and psychic ability. As this chakra begins to move into the realm of Spirit and Higher Consciousness, the focus today is less on vigorous Vinyasa and more on stillness, meditation and visualization. Be prepared to deepen your connection to your intuition as you focus on your personal power in the following restorative practice.
Have your yoga blocks, blanket, straps, bolsters, and cushions nearby as you call to mind the Anja chakra!
Exploring the energies of the chakra is an invitation to connect with your own personal power. Adding the poses and postures of yoga bridges the gap between consciousness and matter, so that you can develop a deeper understanding of who you are. As you embody these realizations in your everyday life, you will naturally find yourself making self-informed decisions, connecting more authentically with others, and living in accordance to your Highest Purpose!
What are some of the insights you’ve gained through the Chakra Yoga series? I invite you to journal your experiences and meditations throughout this process of self-discovery!
